If ya in the ATL and love good music, come thru the 2nd Annual New Music Listening Party 2012, Live from the Rev Cafe, Monday, April 16, 2012. Rev Cafe, an eclectic mix of artists, styles & genres is the brain child of Red Lion Entertainment and rapper Corey Red, with DJ PDogg will be on the one’s and two’s.
“The whole purpose of the new music listening party was simple,” offers Corey Red, the host of the event. “I got tired of every time there’s events with music, promoters takin advantage of artists coming to town that week, charging the artist prices to showcase and then put them on before or after the event is packed. I just wanted to have a showcase that could be fly and artists didn’t have to pay to perform and its free to the public”
Artists featured include Wildchild, Joe Kelly, Kambino, Luke G, Kyra, Rae Ellis, Messenja, Big Al, Gospel Gangstaz, T Haddy and more (see flyer below). Come thru to hear some really good music, Spiritual Minded Radio & Magazine will be in da house. Oh and did I mention the cost of admission is Free!

J.B is a young man who has been hiding a dark secret from his sister for years. A secret he is scared to reveal because of the consequences given by Sarah’s boyfriend Antonio. At the age of 12, JB learned what it was like to lose the most important people in his life. The only person he could confide in (his father) was not there anymore to hold him close and to raise him (Antonio). He had no other choice but to stay with his sister and the one person he fears the most. JB meets Bane, a charismatic young man who befriends him and shadows JB as he heads to school. He also meets Pastor Harris, a Man of God whos church resides across from JB’s school. As Pastor Harris attempts to create a friendship with JB, Bane notices and dislikes the idea and uses the intimidating factor that Antonio uses on JB to do as he says. At home JB confronts Antonio and the outcome changes JB’s perspective about ever finding the love he used to have from his father and even having the hope to live. What he doesn’t know is that there is hope for those hopeful. [USA]

President Obama: ‘If I Had a Son, He’d Look Like Trayvon’ (Video)

President Obama made his first public comments about the shooting of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed Florida teen who was shot by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman.
“All of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen,” the President said this morning following a White House Rose Garden ceremony when asked about the 17-year-old’s death.
The president called the shooting a “tragedy” and says “every aspect” of the case should be investigated. Obama gave his condolences to the slain teenager’s parents and said if he had a son, “he’d look like Trayvon.”

North Carolina Gospel Announcers Guild (NCGAG) and DaSouth.com have entered into a strategic partnership to bring more awareness and support of Christian Hip Hop during the NCGAG’s 2012 Convention taking place May 15-19, 2012. This years convention will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, NC. On that Friday, May 18th at 11:30pm EST DaSouth.com will host Hip Hop Night with a concert and artist showcase. Headlining the event will be national recording artist Thi’sl of Full Ride Music Group (St. Louis, MO), and also scheduled to perform are Blaze (Seattle, WA) and the group XCEL (Fayetteville, NC).

Jeremy Lin and Landry Fields get along really, really well. The Knicks teammates are apparently tight enough to make an awkward video in which they explain their secret handshake. Lin (who went to Harvard) and Fields (who sent to Stanford) poke fun at their own geeky roots in the handshake. They also make reference to their religious faith and pat each other’s butts.
