RAGE

Conquest came and into the game and let his presence be known with his track “R.A.G.E.” At first listen, it could sound controversial or contradicting to what many of us believe. So, I decided to go on my own conquest and hit Conquest up and get spiritually minded with him.

R.A.G.E. (Radio Edit) by CONQUEST

“This is Revenge Against God’s Enemies.” Conquest-R.A.G.E.
CG: First off, are we really allowed to R.A.G.E.?
CON: In the literal sense of the word “RAGE”, in most cases…no, “R.A.G.E.” in this case is purely metaphor, and in essence a person serving God to the best of his/her ability is the perfect revenge against Satan and his agents who set out to destroy our walks with God and our lives in the process.

CG: What’s your feelings about bullying?
CON: Funny you ask that, I was just having a conversation with a sister who was tired of being bullied, but she was was tired of being bullied emotionally. When you think of bullying in the traditional sense, you think of the physical push and shove, when it much more than that. Often times it really trying to take advantage of a person where you see he or she is weak…and that includes from a spiritual standpoint as well.

“Citizens left for dead, same thing Virginia tech/might have been different if God was given their revenge”

CG: Do you feel that the Columbine and Virginia Tech incidents could have been avoided?
CON:  Hard to say if those tragedies could’ve been avoided, you never know what might set anyone off at that moment…and if they felt that isolated in their hurt from the injustice they perceived or felt, being heard, even through violence, becomes the only thing that makes sense, especially when there’s no God or Godly counsel in the picture

CG: Do you think that they were taking “God’s judgement” into their own hands?
CON:Yes, without question, ’cause the truth of the matter is, did their grievances need to be redeemed with such extreme violence against innocent lives. Society has had debates over the death penalty for proven dangerous criminals, so imagine being caught in a crossfire sparked by someone’s need for revenge based on something you had no involvement. Circumstances like that lack God’s wisdom and proves why proper vengeance should be his to judge and exercise.

“Speaking of rape, I was almost made victim/by a pastor who’s stature was made of weight lifting”

CG: Do you think that the church does a bad job of speaking on molestation (especially coming from pastors)?
CON:  At times, definitely…I think the church doesn’t do the best job speaking on SEX period, far less on SEX when used incorrectly or violently. Then it’s worse when church leaders are involved, then it gets completely covered up to avoid shame and embarrassment. In my case when I was almost attacked…this Pastor had slept with various men and women in the church for years, and basically went unchallenged for that time, and when it finally was by some, they received death threats until the day the same pastor was finally exposed. To my knowledge, he no longer holds that position

CG: Do you think that christians love to invite people to their “pity party“?
CON:  Not really, if anything, I think Christians like to pretend way too much that we are COMPLETELY FINE within ourselves and have together based on our own human strengths, most times we really don’t.

CG:You infused rock and rap together on this track, do you think hip hop artists are afraid to do that for rear of commercial success?
CON:  Artists would faster try to sound like what’s trendy that to forge their own trail, and I’m more comfortable being a risk taker…especially now with this new musical output. In the sea of music that basically has the same formula, I enjoy being the one to make you go “Dag, what was that? Wait is he doing guttural screams in the chorus of a hip hop song?“. Not on some gimmick stuff, but ’cause it’s part of my musical DNA, outside of hip hop artists like a Nas or a Lupe Fiasco e.g., my musical heroes include a METALLICA or an AUGUST BURNS RED…so that’s gonna come out in my music. Artists need to know if they stay true to themselves, work hard and do it exceptionally well, they will find their audience God meant for them.

CG: What did you do to get over your R.A.G.E.?
CON: Prayer and forgiveness were key…and the understanding that even this pastor was a slave to his own sin. Plus I had the knowledge that God needed me to go through this so I can tell this story on behalf of people who unfortunately couldn’t escape sexual abuse.
