Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Lin, the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the NBA, has gone from D League to fan favorite. The New York Knicks Guard, has racked up a combined 76 points and 25 assists in his last three games. In the team’s last three games, he has scored 25 points against New Jersey, 28 points against Utah and 23 points against Washington. In Wednesday’s game against the Wizards, he had his first dunk of the season, a one-handed jam.

“I didn’t know he could dunk,” Tyson Chandler told the New York Times. “When he’s going in for it, I go: ‘No, Jeremy! Just lay the ball up.’ And all of a sudden he dunks it.” With the addition of Tyson Chandler and what was suppose to be the Dynamic Duo of Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony, and opening day win over The Boston Celtics, expectations were extremely high. There was something to be excited about with The New York Knicks for the first time in over a decade or two. But quickly the lack of a quality point guard to set up plays for the team became evident with every loss, when Harvard University graduate, Jeremy Lin is penciled in as the Knicks’ starting point guard.

I know three games is too early to declare the Knicks bonafide contenders, but once again a Guard from the D League gives Knicks fans something to cheer about. Comparison are being tossed around to John Starks, who also was a fan favorite and was very instrumental in some postseason success for the Knicks. Is Jeremy Lin the answer to the New York’s Point Guard issues, time will tell. He will have to play like this for the remainder of the season and in the postseason to live up to the Starks comparisons. But for now, once again a relatively unknown, undrafted player goes from the D League to Madison Square and the New Yorkers are loving it!!!

  1. Do you mind if I quote a couple of your articles as long as I provide credit and sources back to your site? My blog is in the very same niche as yours and my visitors would truly benefit from some of the information you present here. Please let me know if this ok with you. Regards!

    • no I dont mind

  2. Well written article. Applause for the author ;) . I’ll send it to my friends I believe that they should also appreciate it. I think I’ll be your guest in the future. Take care ! – Pranger

  3. o yea dont forget he greatly give God the glory for whats happening….thats why I surely following him and his games now..plus wins

    • No doubt St. Matthew. Alot of athletes thank God, but you see no evidence of God in their life. This cat is humble. won’t let the press give him all the credit, he gives God the props and bigs up the team. Its all about the team with him! SELFLESSNESS – a very understated, and unspoken of attribute of God!

  4. Yo, watch what happens when Mello and Amare return…DON’T believe the HYPE! …Go LAKERS! lol!

    • Much respect for you my brother but lets be real, the Lakers will not win their division this year and are not even necessarily the best team in their own building anymore, that said, I believe Amare and Lin will coexist together just fine, Lin will re-energize Amare the way he did Tyson Chandler. I am curious to see how Melo’s return with effect the way the team is playing together now with Lin as starting point guard. The Knicks actually were winning more with Amare before Melo’s arrival. Amare had much better numbers before Carmelo as well. Lin will feed Amare the way Steve Nash did. Lin is making unnamed players you never heard of look good, Tyson and Amare will benefit greatly. Real talk it might be time to end the Carmelo experiment if he disrupts the teams new momentum when he returns!

  5. I wrote in my column, he would have to keep it goin…
well all i can say is strong performance against the Lakers, outscoring Kobe, scoring the most for a Knick player this year and scoring the most in 1st three games starting since the merger of the NBA & ABA, this cat aint no joke!!!!

  6. ANd the coach didn’t wanna play him! LOL!

    • No doubt Pastor Short Tee
Lin will be getting much more playing time now, they just guaranteed his contract and after all the negative press and losing record, they should ride the wave!

  7. From D to MSG~~~LINs self tribute with a dunk salute speaks in cheers of rejuvenation from the Knicks bench!!! And fans are in deed loving what I always questioned!? Why not rotate the Team, which is what it took to bring consecutive victories!!!! A rejuvenation through rotation!!! My sentiments exactly AJ! NOW WATCH THE TEAM WITH LIN AT GUARD PLAY!!!

    • no doubt Darian, I’m amped to see where this can go and if, Lin can keep it up through out the year and through the post season.
If so like John Starks, he will get a real contract next year!
